Territorial Conflict

A territorial conflict in German New Medicine concerns a person's domain — losing it, being unable to defend it, or being unable to mark it as theirs. The framework groups a family of related themes here (territorial loss, territorial anger, territorial fear) and associates them with ectodermal tissues controlled from the cerebral cortex: bile ducts, stomach lining, bronchial mucosa, coronary arteries.

Territory in the biological sense is not only land. GNM extends it to a home, a workplace, a position, a role, a relationship — anywhere a person experiences a domain as theirs.

An everyday example: someone whose department is restructured and whose long-held role is handed to a new hire. The framework would ask which flavour the shock took — the domain being lost outright, or someone intruding on a domain still held — because it maps those to different tissues.

Being ectodermal, these tissues are said to lose cells or ulcerate during the conflict-active phase and to repair during the healing phase, with the noticeable symptoms landing in the second half. The lining of a coronary artery widening during activity, and the pressure and inflammation of repair afterward, is the example the pillar posts use.

Territorial conflicts are also where biological handedness and hemisphere matter most in GNM's account, since the framework describes the cortex's territorial areas as hemispheric — which is why this theme appears in its discussion of constellations.
